6 Paw-fect Ways to Celebrate DOGust

August is DOGust, a month of celebrating all the shelter dogs whose birthdays are unknown. If you have a rescue dog with an unknown birthday, why not celebrate the entire month of August?! Here are our 6 best tips for the ultimate month-long pup party.

1. Throw a birthday party for your pup

August 1 is the official birthday for shelter pets everywhere, but that doesn’t mean you can’t pick another day in August if you prefer! Go all out with your dog’s favorite treats, party hats, and balloons. After all, your dog is an important member of your family and needs to be celebrated!

2. Volunteer at a local shelter

What better to way to celebrate shelter dogs than to hang out with them? Call your local shelter to find out how their volunteer program works, then sign up!

3. Take your dog to the park

Is there anything sweeter than watching your pup frolic at the park? Hardly. Find a fun event like an outdoor concert or craft fair or farmer’s market that is dog-friendly and go take in the sights together!

4. Host a puppy playdate

Call all your pup’s friends (and yours, too!) and invite them over for a playdate! Or, if you don’t have the outdoor space, meet at a local park. Let the dogs play while the humans hang out with popsicles and swap stories!

5. Have a dog movie marathon

Curl up with your pup, gather the treats, and play some of these classics back to back. Make sure you have tissues!

  • Marley & Me
  • Best In Show
  • Homeward Bound
  • My Dog Skip
  • Because of Winn-Dixie
  • Hotel For Dogs

6. Donate to The PEDIGREE Foundation!

When you donate to the Foundation, shelters and rescues around the country are able to better care for the dogs staying with them. We love giving grants to these incredible shelters, and we love when you partner with us to do so!

Did you know you can make a donation in honor of your own furry pal? Celebrate DOGust (and all rescue dogs) this month by donating today.

Happy DOGust, everyone!!
