Below are the photos of Vixen with her adoption photo after her puppies were adopted. We got to see her true personality that meshed so well with her forever family. Ironically, the grant check arrived the day after we took in Vixen and her 8 named-after-reindeer puppies. Just the day before we were concerned about the additional expense of puppies in the last month of our fiscal year. PEDIGREE Foundation was there!
Momma Vixen was a stray who gave birth to 8 puppies on Dec. 1, 2017 in an out-building of a very surprised homeowner. The puppy family wouldn’t survive the unseasonably cold spell and were brought to Bellwether a week after birth so they wouldn’t freeze. Vixen was very cranky with people at first because she was a good mother and very protective of her babies which were named after Santa’s reindeer. As the puppies grew, Vixen became more approachable and affectionate. She realized we weren’t going to hurt her litter. By 8 weeks, all the puppies had found their forever home and Vixen could let her true colors show, those of a very loving dog. As soon as Vixen arrived, we had interest from people who wanted to give her a forever home. They waited patiently until she had recovered from giving birth. She was so excited to get to her forever home. Her family renamed her Daisy to fit the personality they saw, one that brought joy. I just love the look on her face with the couple who adopted her. Sheer joy! Her family says: “She is relaxing and learning she is safe now. She’s perfect for us.”
