Dogs & Data Webinar Series 2026: Monthly Insights and Solutions for Shelter Dogs

Hosted by PEDIGREE Foundation, Adopt a Pet, Outcomes for Pets Consulting and Shelter Animals Count

This three-part webinar series will help animal welfare professionals use data more effectively to improve the lives of animals in their care. Participants will learn how to make data easier for staff and volunteers to understand, identify why some dogs stay in care longer than others and use accessible technology to uncover opportunities for improvement. Together, the sessions offer practical ways to make better decisions, strengthen programs, engage the community and help more animals move safely and quickly into loving homes.

These webinars are designed for animal welfare professionals of all levels who are looking to use data to improve outcomes for animals.

Tuesday, September 15 @ 1 pm CT: What Everyone on Your Team Needs to Know About Animal Shelter Data

Hosted by: Deb Fair, Executive Director of PEDIGREE Foundation; April Huntsman, Senior Director of Animal Welfare for Adopt a Pet; Kristen Hassen, Founder and CEO of Outcomes for Pets Consulting; and Stephanie Filer, Vice President of Shelter Animals Count

Most animal shelter professionals don’t have a good grasp on animal shelter data. This can lead to cultural problems in organizations, when discussions and decisions are based on feelings, not facts. In this session, you’ll hear new insights from Shelter Animals Count’s 2026 Mid-Year Report and learn what all staff need to know about data, how to teach these concepts, and how to empower staff to move from understanding data to acting on it.

Topics include:

  • Data basics for new staff and volunteers
  • How to make national and regional data meaningful
  • Engage staff members in weekly, monthly and annual data reports
  • Build an organizational vocabulary around data-driven terminology
  • Demonstrate how a policy or procedure positively or negatively impacts data
  • Empower your team to pilot programs and measure impact

We’ll show you real-world examples from shelters where data drives positive organizational change, and you’ll leave with actionable strategies to ignite interest and action throughout your team. This session is appropriate for all levels, and is especially tailored to supervisors, managers and executive leaders.
